To generate buzz for Steven Spielberg's new alien invasion show we created a fully-immersive alternative reality gaming experience.
To begin, we sent cryptic packages to a select group of influential bloggers.
Labeled "2nd Mass" - the name of the resistance fighters on the show - each envelope contained a beat up Flip Cam pre-loaded with the video below.
When scanned, a QR code at the end of the video led to a webpage with a cryptic message. The longitude and latitude coordinates were for Convention Center in Downtown San Diego, home of the San Diego ComicCon.
On the 1st day of the ComicCon the teaser page transitioned into a fully functioning site, and visitors to the SDCC could participate in a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a walk-on role in the show.
2nd Mass members inside and outside of the Convention Center displayed QR codes for contestants to find.
On the last day of the Con, our winner was announced high above Downtown San Diego.
